An Outreach Monkeys alternative starts with ten questions you should ask first

Outreach Monkeys publishes a per-placement price list from $60 to $500 and states its own vetting rules for publishers. That makes it unusually easy to cross-examine. Here are ten questions, answered with data.

We looked up outreachmonkeys.com the way a buyer would look up a donor site. Our index shows DR 15, 12 referring domains and 43 backlinks, of which 36 are dofollow (83.7%). The oldest link we saw dates from 2025-09-09 and the newest from 2026-08-11. Ten of the 12 referrers sit between DR 15 and 29; only two reach the 30s or 40s, and both are nofollow.

The shape is telling. Seven of the dofollow donors first appeared in a 12-day window, 2026-02-07 to 2026-02-18, each linking from a single page two to six times. That footprint is consistent with a batch of guest articles, though nothing in our data proves who placed them. And 15 of the 43 links, 34.9%, use exact-match anchors for one service, "Multilingual Link Building" or "Multilingual Guest Post Outreach", and all 15 point at the multilingual page. The other 28 go to the homepage. The two strongest referrers, worldmetrics.org (DR 46) and wifitalents.com (DR 48), are "best of 2026" list pages, and every one of their 7 links is nofollow. This is our crawl sample and our DR, not Ahrefs DR.

Questions 1 and 2: Is this a tool or a crew, and what does the hero actually promise?

Q1. Is Outreach Monkeys software? No. The homepage hero is a headline, three orange pills ("Manual Outreach", "Content-led Links", "White-Label Ready") and one button, "Get Started Today". We found no login link, dashboard demo or data feed on the public site. The model is a brief from you, outreach to publishers by the team, and a report back. The company describes itself as a "full-service white-hat link-building agency specializing in custom and multilingual outreach".

Q2. What does it promise? The H1 says it is "The Best Link Building Team to Make a Difference in your Rankings". A page further down claims "a client success rate of a 100%". Those are marketing statements. The Terms are more specific about what is guaranteed: they say the agency does not promise "Ranking improvement or SEO results", "Permanent placement duration" or "Particular domain metrics". The Terms are the better guide to what is promised.

That is a normal arrangement for an agency. The practical point is that the thing you are buying is labour and publisher access. The output is a list of URLs. Everything after that, whether those URLs are live, indexed, followed and worth what you paid, is something you can measure yourself with link data.

Questions 3 and 4: What does a placement cost, and does the price list agree with itself?

Q3. Are prices public? Partly. The homepage has no prices, and its "See Pricing" button links to "#". But the blogger-outreach page lists six tiers, per campaign, in USD, with no billing period:

TierTraffic band on the pagePrice
DR10+0-1000 monthly$60
DR 20+0-5k$85
DR 30+100-10k$115
DR 40+500-20k$200
DR 50+1k-30k$350
DR 60+1k-60k$500

Each tier lists 500+ words of writing, one anchor per URL, dofollow, a money-back guarantee and "3-5 Day Delivery". The niche-edits page repeats the first four tiers. Guest posting, link insertion, multilingual outreach and digital PR are "get a quote" only.

Q4. Does the price list contradict itself? In places, yes. A separate pricing-carousel page shows the same four prices but says "30 days delivery" and "0-1000 visits/month" on every card, against "3-5 Day Delivery" on the service pages. The refund wording also differs: service pages say "Money back guarantee", while the Terms say that once work has started, "refunds are not approved", with replacements or partial refunds possible if agreed placements are not delivered. Ask which one applies before you pay, and get the answer in writing.

One more piece of arithmetic. Ten placements at the DR30+ tier come to $1,150 at list price. At our price of $0.0001 per lookup credit, checking ten donor domains costs about a tenth of a cent. The check is cheap relative to the order, which is the whole argument for doing it.

Question 5: Do the donor sites pass the agency's own publisher rules?

The guest-posting page lists vetting rules, which makes this the best question on the list. Among them: a site must have "100+ indexed pages", at least "1000+ visitors a month", and must be "trusted by at least 100 unique, quality websites that link to it". It also says every site gets valid SSL and avoids adult or betting content.

Two of those can be tested with link data. We pulled the ten dofollow donors in outreachmonkeys.com's own profile, and read the donor_indeg value our API returns. It appears to be the donor's own referring-domain count in our graph, but we have not documented it, so treat that reading as probable.

  • redwingnews.com: 111
  • billionfire.com: 97
  • toptierce.com: 45 and consolidatetimes.com: 66
  • homedecorchamp.com: 62, messiturf100.com: 46, myliberla.org: 35, kerbalcomics.com: 33, pepperboy.today: 26, abdellatifturf.com: 17

Only one of ten clears 100. That is not a broken promise: our index is a sample of the public web and counts well below what Ahrefs shows, and Ahrefs is the tool the agency says it uses. It does show why you should run the same check on the donors you are offered, in the same index each time, so the comparison between candidates is at least consistent.

Questions 6 and 7: How fast does a placement show up in crawl data, and what does the profile pattern show?

Q6. How long between publication and visibility? We have a rare real example. freeserp shows three of the articles with dates: kerbalcomics.com published 2026-01-20, first seen by us 2026-02-14; homedecorchamp.com published 2026-01-23, first seen 2026-02-07; consolidatetimes.com published 2026-01-26, first seen 2026-02-14. That is 15 to 25 days. Our index is refreshed roughly monthly and a new link can take weeks to appear, so if a report says "live" on day four and our API says nothing on day ten, that is the index, not the agency.

Separately, the homepage FAQ says "it takes around 8-12 weeks to show results", which is about ranking results, not crawl visibility. Checking at week four, week eight and week twelve fits both timelines.

Q7. What does the pattern in its own profile show? It is a useful worked example. Seven donors first seen inside 12 days, one linking page each, 2 to 6 links per page, a third of all links using exact-match service anchors. If you are buying for a client, look at your own profile the same way after delivery. Counting anchors by type (brand, URL, topic phrase) and by target page takes one anchors call.

None of this is a verdict, and our data cannot say who placed these articles. It is the kind of pattern a buyer can read for themselves.

Question 8: What happens when a link disappears?

The guest-posting page says the team "closely monitors every link that we create for three months" and, in some cases, replaces a removed link at no charge. The multilingual page promises another backlink "even if any link expires or is removed". The Terms disclaim responsibility for "Content removal after publication" and "Editorial decisions made by publishers". Those three statements are not identical, so the safe reading is that replacement is offered, with limits you should confirm.

This is where an independent record helps. Keep a list of delivered URLs with the target page and anchor. Then, each month, query the backlinks for your domain, filtering by source domain, and see which delivered links still appear. A link missing from our index might be removed, or might simply not be in the crawl, so use it as a prompt to check the live page, not as proof. With a three-month monitoring window, a dated list of what was live on which day is what turns "it was there" into something you can send to a support desk.

Our API docs list the filters: by source domain, target URL, follow type, minimum donor DR and date range.

Question 9: When is Outreach Monkeys simply the better choice?

Often. apibacklinks does not build links, sell links or index pages. We provide data. If your problem is that you have no outreach capacity, an agency is the right answer and we are not one.

  • You want it done for you. Writing, pitching, publisher negotiation and placement are the product. A data API cannot email a blogger.
  • You need white-label reporting. The agency says reports include link URL, target page, DR, anchor text and status, plus an unbranded CSV. We have no shareable client dashboards and no scheduled exports.
  • You work in several languages. It states coverage of German, French, Spanish, Italian and Swiss sites and "15+ native languages". We have no publisher network at all.
  • You want a published price ladder. $60 to $500 per placement is easy to budget. Quotes for guest posts and multilingual work are not, but the ladder is a real anchor.
  • You want a service with a stated reply time. The order form says "we get back to you within 24 hours", and the site lists phone and email contacts. An endpoint has neither.

Our own limits matter too. We have no new-and-lost-links report, no alerts, no spam score and no traffic estimates. Our coverage is a sample of the public web, smaller and less fresh than the proprietary crawlers. For a client who needs a weekly emailed report, that is a gap, and the two services are better used together than swapped for one another.

Question 10: What does a verify-before-you-pay routine look like with an API?

Here is a hypothetical routine, not a customer story. Say you are offered ten donor domains for a DR30+ order of $115 each.

  1. Screen the offer. Run the ten domains through bulk_dr, which takes up to 2,000 domains per request. Drop anything with a DR below your tier and anything with almost no referring domains.
  2. Look inside the survivors. Pull overview for each: top anchors, TLD mix, DR distribution. The anchor mix and TLD spread show what kind of site the donor is.
  3. Check who links to the donor. Run refdomains on the donor itself to see its strongest referring domains and their DR. Our API shows inbound links only, so outbound links on the donor are not visible to us.
  4. Record the baseline. Save the referring-domain count and backlink count for your target with the free domain action before delivery.
  5. Re-check at weeks four, eight and twelve. Look for each delivered URL. Remember the 15 to 25 day crawl lag seen above.

You can try the whole thing without a key on the free domain and overview actions, or browse any report in the explorer. Our hub of link-building tools sets this next to other options. Paid actions cost from $0.10 per 1,000 calls, and new accounts start with $100 of free credit.

Outreach Monkeys alternative — FAQ

Is apibacklinks a replacement for Outreach Monkeys?
No. Outreach Monkeys places links for you. apibacklinks gives you link data, so you can vet donors before buying and confirm placements afterward. The two can be used together.
Does Outreach Monkeys have an API?
We found no public API, docs or key system on its site. Its pages mention a client dashboard and an unbranded CSV download, but they do not say that you can pull data programmatically.
Is the DR on this page the same as the DR the agency uses?
No. The agency says it checks sites with Ahrefs. Our DR is our own 0 to 100 metric, computed from referring-domain counts in our graph. It is comparable in spirit but not the same number, and outreachmonkeys.com is DR 15 in ours.
Why does a delivered link not appear in your index yet?
Our index is built from crawl releases and refreshed roughly monthly. In the examples we found, guest articles became visible 15 to 25 days after publication. A missing link after a week is not proof of anything.
What does it cost to vet a donor with apibacklinks?
A lookup costs 1 credit, which is $0.0001. The domain and overview actions are free with no key. List calls such as refdomains and backlinks cost 2 credits and return up to 1,000 rows.
Can apibacklinks tell me whether a link is toxic?
No. We have no spam, toxicity or topical score. We show donor DR, anchors, follow status, link type and dates, and you make the call.
